Quantum Entanglement (PH797, Summer, 2017) Course Information

Course Description: Through this course students learn mathematical description and various properties of quantum entanglements in pure and mixed states. Examples of entanglement in quantum many-body systems are discussed.

Learning Objectives:
  • Quantum mechanics based on density operator.
  • Liouville (super) operator space
  • Pure vs. mixed state
  • Entanglement entropy
  • Quantum information
  • Entagnlement detection
  • Area laws of entanglement entropy
  • Entanglement in a chain of harmonic oscillators
  • Entanglement in a chain of spins
